Bev's CHARITY CRAFTING LINKS
updated July 2010

"When we love the Lord, obedience ceases to be a burden. Obedience becomes a delight. When we love the Lord, we seek less for things that benefit us and turn our hearts toward things that will bless and uplift others."

--Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, "The Great Commandment", October 2007 LDS General Conference

Bev's Country Cottage posts links only to charities they believe are reputable in nature and are actually helping others through contributions.
***  This page has been on my website for many years, and not all charities email me to let me know if they no longer accept donations.  You may wish to email web owners to ask if they still are in need, or if they have added more needs to their list.

The WinterWarm Project is a non-profit, knit-for-charity organisation collecting hand knitted and crocheted garments to be distributed in Afghanistan by Save The Children Sweden-Norway in Kabul.

Our mission is to provide as much warm clothing as possible - hats, socks, scarves, jumpers, shawls, and also blankets - in order to help those in need survive the harsh Afghanistan winter, in which 100s of lives are lost each year due to extreme weather.

At the moment, we only have a collection point in Melbourne, Australia. All finished goods can be posted to:

Baby Pack Project
Upon learning that newborn babies at a nearby clinic were being sent home wrapped in newspaper, local lady Gill Richardson sprang into action. The Baby Pack Project has grown out of a tiny seed of compassion sown by that lovely lady back in 2005. The Baby Pack Project make up “baby-packs” for mothers of newborn babies in Kwa Zulu Natal who would otherwise have nothing. Each pack contains a cloth nappy/diaper, pin, waterproof pants, a towel, soap, hat, booties or mittens and one babygro, a jumper or sweater, a small blanket & a little knitted toy.  Donations are welcome.

"When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed. We have refused to be instruments of love in the hands of God to give the poor a piece of bread, to offer them a dress with which to ward off the cold. It has happened because we did not recognize Christ when, once more, he appeared under the guise of pain, identified with a man numb from the cold, dying from hunger, when he came in a lonely human being, in a lost child in search of a home."    Mother Teresa
