K = Knit
P = Purl
st(s) = Stitch(es)
tog = together
in(s) = inches
K1 = Knit one stitch
P1 = Purl one stitch
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
P2tog = Purl two stitches together
YO or YON = Yarn over needle (to create a stitch)
( ) = instructions in brackets are to be repeated a specified number of times
sl st = Slip stitch
inc = increase
M1 = make one
MC = main color CC = contrast color
dec = decrease
rep = repeat
rem = remaining
rnd = round
rs = right side
Kb = knit into back of stitch
PSSO = Pass slipped stitch over
p2tog - Purl two together
wb = wool to back of work as if to knit
wf = wool forward
wrn = wool round front
ws = wrong side
wyib - With Yarn In Back
wyif - With Yarn In Front
yb - Yarn to the Back
yf - Yarn to the Front
Yfwd = yarn forward
yfrn = yarn forward and round needle
yo2 = yarn over twice
