Bev’s Mock Cable Scarf OR kids blanket (multiples of 5)

Copyright Beverly A. Qualheim 2002, 2017  (Photo Copyright Gayle Rottier)

   mock cable stitch

Size 9 needles  (29" Circulars work best)
Bernat Baby Yarn, or Caron Simply Soft yarn
Gauge = 20 sts = 5"

Cast on 25 sts for a 6" scarf OR 160 sts for a 40" blanket
Knit 4 rows
1 P2, *(Sl 1, K2, PSSO, P2); rep from * to last 3 sts, Sl 1, K2, PSSO

Row 2 P2, *(K1, YO, K1, P2); rep from * to last 2 sts, K1, YO, K1
Row 3 P2, *(K3, P2); rep from * to last 3 sts, K3
Row 4 repeat Row 3
Now repeat the 4 rows until the blanket is the desired length ending with a round 3.
Finish:  knit 4 more rows.

HINT:  To keep track of where you are in the pattern, print it out, then use a pencil to make a check mark after each row.  After each set of 4 rows, erase the check marks and start over with the next set of 4.  Really helps.
