TINY TEDDY BEAR (about 3" or so)

I made
several of these one year for my children to hang on the tree, but they
are so sweet, they work great for any occasion.
This
tiny teddy bear can fit in your purse or baby bag for those long car
trips
too.
Materials
Size
F crochet hook, and small amount of 4 ply worsted weight yarn.
(Use
a G hook to make a slightly larger bear.)
A
little
bit of polyester fiberfill to stuff teddy and yarn needle.
Start
at the center top of head, ch 2. (Do not join rows, instead mark the
end
of each row with a piece of contrasting color yarn
between
the 1st and last st of each row. Simply move the piece of yarn up to
the
next row as you go.)
ROW
1: 6
sc in 2nd ch from hook.
ROW
2: 2
sc in each st around - 12 sc.
ROW
3: *Sc
in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 18 sc.
ROWS
4-7:
Work even in sc.
ROW
8: *Dec
over next 2sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 12 sc. Stuff head
with fiberfill.
ROW
9 (neck):
Dec over every 2nd sc around - 6 sc.

10:
Work even in sc.

11:
*2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 9 sc
ROW
12:
*Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 12 sc.

13:
*2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc, repeat from * around - 15 sc.

*Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 18 sc.

15-16:
Work even in sc.
ROW
17:*Dec
over next 2 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around - 12 sc. Stuff body.
ROW
18:
Dec over every 2 sc around - 6 sc. Sl st in next st and fasten off,
leaving
a 7" tail of yarn.
Using
the yarn needle, draw the end of the yarn through sts of last row, pull
tightly and secure with 3 tiny sts to end.
ARMS
& LEGS (make 4): Ch 2.
ROW
1: 7
sc in 2nd ch from hook.
ROW
2:Work
in back loops only, work even in sc.
ROWS
3-5:
Working in BOTH loops now, work even in sc. At end of row 5, sl st in
next
sc. Fasten off,
leaving
8" tail of yarn. Stuff and sew to body in appropriate places.
NOSE
& TAIL (make 2): Ch 3, 4 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in top
of beginning ch to join. Fasten off,
leaving
an 8" tail of yarn. Sew nose to center front of head and sew tail to
bottom
center of body back.
EARS (make
2): Ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off leaving 7" tail of yarn.
Sew to upper sides of head.
Split
a 12" strand of black yarn into 2 ply strands. Embroider eyes and tip
of
nose by making 5 whip-stitches
over
the same spot for each.
FINISH:
Tie an 8" piece of shiny thin ribbon around bears neck.
If you
are going to hang it on the Christmas tree this year, be sure to stitch
a hanging loop of yarn to top of bears head.
