Autumn in the 'Pumpkin' Patch

Size G (4 mm) (4.5 mm) or H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
Several yards of worsted weight #4 yarn
(I used Red Heart Super Saver -Pumpkin)
small amount of polyfiberfil
Larger Pumpkin = 3" across top
Smaller pumpkin = 2.25" across top
Instructions are for larger pumpkin with smaller one in ( )
Chain 12 (10) Leaving an 8" starting tail of yarn.
1) Sc in 2nd chain from hook, and in each ch across, ch 1 and turn. (11 sts) (9 sts)
2) Sc in each sc across in the back loops only as that forms the ridges, ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 for 20 (14) rows
Cut 10" yarn tail and end off.
Fold pumpkin in half.
Thread starting yarn tail into a yarn needle.
Weave in and out of top stitches, pull to gather.
Make 3-4 stitches on top of each other to secure end.
Thread ending yarn tail, and stitch the 2 small sides together (your starting row and last row.)

Finish gathering and complete ending off securing
STEM: Dark green yarn
1) Sc in each ch, ch 1 turn
2) Sc in BLO of each sc, ch 1 and turn
Kind of fold the stem so you can sl st the 2nd row to the 1st which
makes it a bit chunky. It can be messy even and will look leaf
Sew to top of
pumpkin. I sew all the way through to base and stitch back, repeat a
few times to anchor. Cut yarn close to pumpkin.
Double Stem leaves
Sc in 3 chs, 2 hdc in next 2 chains. Ch 6, 3sc in 3 chs, 2 hdc in
last 2 chains. Join with a slip stitch and cut yarn about 6" long.
