I have been meaning to post this pattern for a Crocheted Bassinet-Purse, since last May (2010) when we went to BYU Women's Conference, and am finally doing it now (March 2011).  These made up easily and are just darling! I don't own a scanner, and have not had time to type up the instructions, so I hope these photos are readable and you will be able to make many for family, and for places like family shelters, and children's hospitals.

Keep in mind some of the info doesn't apply of course, as these were in kits for the LDS women who attended to make while they were attending conference.  I decided to leave them as is.  Size G hook and worsted weight yarn.

Also, here are some notes from Sharon who helped make this pattern:

Just a few tips that might be helpful:

Some of us testers, even the very experienced ones, had a difficult time with the first round. Here's a link with a very similar pattern that has a great diagram. Bev, you might want to add this link to your instructions.  (Now archived)

My hoods always looked a bit wonky. To disguise this, I added an edging (ch 3, sl st or sc in same or next st), using a thinner yarn if need be, around the hood edge. The edging also looked really cute when added to the last round of the purse "skirt". It gave a nice ruffly finish to the skirt when opened as a cradle.

One last thing: We found using yarn that didn't split easily the best to work with.
