Here is a fabulous baby blanket, bib or burpcloth edging sent by JoAnn.  I learned this one originally at BYU Women's Conference several years ago.
We call it "Hugs and Kisses Edge"- copyright unknown but thank you to whoever did create this!
I have also heard it called X and O's edging.

blanket edge crocheted

Materials needed:

Rainbow colored # 10 thread
Size 5 (1.9 mm) steel crochet hook or a 2 mm 
Hemstitched blanket, (or make your own holes using the skip blade below)  bib or burpcloth



Attach thread in any hole along the hemstitched edge with a SC.
Chain 3.
SC in the hole directly behind your starting thread. Go forward past where you have worked and skip a hole. (see photo)
* SC in the next hole, chain 3, go back in skipped hole and SC.  Repeat this pattern from * around edge.
Cut yarn and weave in behind blanket, bib or burpcloth.
