I/2 (approx. 55 yards) ball of kitchen cotton

Size H (5 mm) crochet hook

(or odds and ends of kitchen crochet cotton rolled into a ball. I save the ends of balls of cotton when there isn't enough left to make another cloth and roll them into a ball.) 

Makes 8" (20.5 cm) square - without edge

DIRECTIONS:

CHAIN 26

Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from your hook. (your initial "chain"  counts as a double crochet). ♥Skip 1 chain, make 2 double crochets in next chain (makes a "V"), repeat from ♥ across. Chain 3 turn. 

Rows 2-14: Make ONE Dc in middle of the first "V", ♥ skip next stitch, make 2 double crochets in middle of next "V", Repeat from ♥ across. Chain 3 and turn (You end up with 12 "V"s across)

End off and weave in ends!  OR...

ALTERNATE Edging:

Join new color with a slip stitch, *ch1, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around outside of the cloth.  At corners do sc, ch 1, sc in same stitch.
