Materials:
Patons Fairytale DK (50 g
balls) (baby yarn).
1 ball will make 4 pairs of
Mitts
You can make these for 3-5
lbs, 5-8 lbs, or 8-12 lbs babies.
3 1/4 mm (U.S. 3) and 4 mm
(U.S. 6) knitting needles
22 sts and 30 rows = 4
inches
(10 cm) with 4 mm needles in stocking st.
With 3 1/4 mm needles cast
on 25 (27-29) sts.
1st row: (Right side) K1,
*P1, K1. Repeat * to end of row.
2nd row: P1, *K1, P1.
Repeat from * to end of row.
Work 6 rows in K1, P1 ribbing
in total.
Change to 4 mm needles and
work 10 (12 - 14) rows in stocking st thus
ending with right side
facing
for next row.
Shape top: Next row:
K1, (Sl 1K, K1, psso. K7 (8 - 9), K2 tog, K1) twice.
21 (23 - 25) sts on needle.
Next row: Purl
Next row: K1, (Sl1K,
K1, psso, K5 (6 - 7), K2tog, K1) twice. 17 (19 - 21)
sts on needle.
Next row: Purl. Cast off.
Sew top and side
seams.
