Made Especially For You SCARVES

These scarves need to be made from soft yarn, using large knitting needles or hooks for a looser weave.

These scarves are knitted and crocheted to give to women inseveral Domestic Violence Shelters in California.  They need to be 4" - 4.5" across and at least 60" in length. Also, do a few rows using Fun Fur or Ribbon yarn for extra love! OR add a colorful fringe to the ends of the scarves.

1 skein Simply soft yarn or other soft colorful #4 yarn or approximately 300 yds/270 m  

size K ( 6.5mm) crochet hook

Chain 12

Row 1: Using a strand of #4 yarn + a strand of Fun Fur yarn, Double crochet in the 4th chain from your hook. (your initial "chain"  now counts as a double crochet). 

Skip 1 chain, make 2 double crochets in next chain (makes a "V"), repeat from  across. Chain 3 turn. 

Row 2:
Make ONE Dc in middle of the first "V",  skip next stitch, make 2 double crochets in middle of next "V", Repeat from  across.  Chain 3 and turn (You end up with 5 "V"s across)

Repeat Row 2 for 6 rows, then cut the Fun Fur Yarn and continue doing Row 2 until scarf is at least  60" (152 cm) long, or desired length. For the last 6 rows, add the Fun Fur back in! If you don't have Fun Fur yarn, you can add a fun FRINGE on each end of the scarf!


End off and weave in your yarn ends!

! skein of soft worsted weight #4 yarn, approximately 300 yds/270 m (and fun fur if you have it!)

Size 15 knitting needles

Rows 1-8: Holding the fun fur and 1 strand of worsted weight yarn together, knit every row for 8 rows.  Cut the Fun Fur and weave the end in.

Rows 9-? (60"): Knit every row. 

Last 8 rows add the Fun Fur back in with the ww #4 yarn and knit.

Cast off.  Weave in ends.

If you don't have Fun Fur, please add a fringe on each end.
