I made this scarf for my grandson Jack who was starting High School this September and will need it for those COLD winter days in New York

Materials: Approximately 450 yards of #4 worsted weight yarn
Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Scissors, yarn needle


Abbreviations: Sl St = slip stitch, Ch = chain, HDC = half double crochet, st = stitch

Chain 23
(makes the width about 7" across)

Row 1
Sl st into 2nd ch from the hook *1 hdc in next ch, sl st into next ch. Repeat from * across ending row with a HDC. Ch 1, turn

Row 2:
*sl st into top of hdc from previous row, hdc into next st. Repeat from * across row.Ch 1, turn.

Repeat row 2 until scarf is desired length. I recommend at least 50" - 65" long.
