This is an easy to crochet scarf and it makes a lovely scarf to wear!
Materials needed:
Size I (5.5 mm) Crochet Hook
180 - 200 yards of medium weight (4) yarn, approximately 9 yards for each row. I used Big Twist Value from JoAnn.com
Gauge: 3 sts = 1" (sc, ch 2, sk 2, sc); 11 rows = 3"
Abbreviations used: ch = chain; sc = single crochet; sk = skip

Chain 150 (child's scarf)  (approx. 3" wide and 40" long)
Chain 198 (adult's scarf)  (
approx. 6" wide and 65" long)closeup

Row 1: (Leave a 4" long tail to start) Sc into 3rd ch from hook, *ch 2, sk 2, sc in the next ch.  Repeat from * across row ending with a sc and change colors. (Leaving 4" tail again - these will become the fringe). Ch 3, turn.
Row 2 - 11 (22): Using new color now sc in the ch 2 space of the row below, *ch 2, sk 2, sc in the ch 2 space of row below.
Repeat from * across row ending with a sc in the ch 2 at the end of the previous row, and change colors (Leaving 4" tail which you tie in a square knot to previous color). Ch 3, turn.
(On last row just end off, leaving 4" tail.)  Trim the tail ends to match.

Alternate end: You can grab some colorful yarn and sc in each stitch around to end off. Corners are sc ch 1 sc.
