Bev's Acorn Hat

This cute and warm hat is knit flat, using 2 strands of yarn, and then seamed shut!
MATERIALS:
Size 11 knitting needles (8 mm)
2 strands of (#4) Worsted (medium weight) yarn like Red heart classic
Yarn needle, scissors
DIRECTIONS to fit a 4-6 year old child. (7-10 year old child)
Holding 2 strands of yarn together, cast on 44 (48) stitches
Rows 1-14: knit
Row 15: Purl
Row 16: Knit
Rows 17-28: Repeats rows 15 and 16
DECREASE rows:
Row 29: *(Knit 1, Knit 2 together) repeat from * across.
Row 30: Purl
Repeat rows 29 and 30 until you have about 8 or 9 stitches left. (this
one isn't an exact science but it works and looks great!!)
CUT 12" yarn tail, thread sewing needle, remove the last few stitches
from knitting needle, pull shut. Now fold hat in half and whip
stitch shut.
