Worsted weight yarn
12 oz main color (mc)
8 oz contrasting color (cc)
Crochet hook size 4.5 mm (G)

Finished size:  Approximately 36" in diameter

Ch 4 join and form a ring

Rnd 1:  Ch 2, 12 dc in ring, join with sl st to first dc

Rnd 2:  Ch 2, dc around front post of first st and the ch 2 just made ,  *2 dc in next dc, dc around front post*.  Repeat between *'s, ending with 2 dc in last 2 st of rnd., join wth sl st to first dc.
Rnd 3:  Ch 2, dc front post in each dc front post, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc

Rnd 4:  Ch 2, dc front post in each dc front post, 1 dc in ea dc, 2 dc in ch 1 space

Repeat rows 3 & 4 until desired size. 28 more time
Border
Attach new color, keeping in pattern work the same as above, but dc only in the back loop of each dc stitch.  Make 5 rounds of border

Finishing
Attach mc and work 1 sc in each st of the last round.  Finish off.  Weave in ends

A few have had difficulty understanding how to make this pattern so a friend of mine has been kind enough to rewrite it for everyone.  She wished to remain anonymous, but I thank her from the bottom of my heart!!

ch chain
dc double crochet
sc single crochet
fpdc front post double crochet
st, sts stitch, stitches
mc main color

ch 4. Join to form ring

Round 1 ch 3, 11 dc in ch, join (12 sts)

Round 2: ch 3,* fpdc , 2 dc in next dc,* repeat between * Join round. (18 sts)

Round 3 no increases: ch 3, fpdc around first st , dc in the next dc, ch 1, dc in next d, repeat between * join. (18 sts)

Rnd 4 increases: ch 3, * fpdc, dc, dc in the ch 1twice, dc* repeat between * join (30 sts)

Rounds 5,7,9,11,etc. (plain rounds, no increases)
Ch3,* fpdc, dc (2,3,4,5,etc times), ch 1, dc (2,3,4,5,etc times)* repeat between * join (30, 42,54,66, etc stitches).

Rounds, 6.8,10,12, etc (increase rounds)
Ch 3,
fpdc, dc (2,3,4,5, etc, times) 2 dc in the ch 1, dc (2,3,4,5, etc, times) join (42,54,66,78,etc stitches).

Repeat the plain and increase rounds until desired size, approximately 28 times.

Border
Attach new color, keeping in pattern work the same as above, but dc only in the back loop of each dc stitch. Make 5 rounds of border

Finishing
Attach mc and work 1 sc in each st of the last round. Finish off. Weave in ends

Pattern notes

The ch 3 at the beginning of each round counts as the first st of the round
Rounds 1 and 2 are the set-up rounds.
The pattern is formed by alternating plain and increase rows.
The blanket consists of six spokes formed by the six front post double crochets.
Increases are at the rate of 12 per
increase row which averages to 6 sts per row
