Holiday Preemie Hat (fits 3-4 lb preemie)
1/2 oz of soft worsted weight yarn (a few yards of contrast color for pompom)
Crochet Hook size I
Ch 5
Join with a sl st to form ring. Ch 1.
Rnd 1: Sc 12 st into ring (do NOT join)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (24 sts)
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 4: sc in 1st sc, *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc.) Continue from * around.
Rnd 5: Sc in back loops only of each sc around. (32 sts)
Rnd 6 - 15: Sc in each sc around (in BOTH loops again)
Rnd 16: 2 sc in each sc around.
Make your choice of color for pom pom.
Examples:
Orange Hat / green pompom = Halloween
or fall
Green Hat / red pompom, or red hat / green
pompom = Christmas
Blue hat / white pompom, or white hat
/blue pompom = Hanukkah
Pink, yellow, green pastels etc and pastel
pompom for Easter.
Countries:
Red, white and blue = USA
Blue, Red and white = United Kingdom
Red and white = Canada or Denmark
Blue and red = Norway
Green, white, orange = Italy
