Bev's NEWBORN ROUNDIE HAT
Copyright 2006 Bev Qualheim
Size H hook and odds and ends of baby yarn.  Someone sent me scraps of Caron Cuddlesoft yarn  (I love it!!)
hats!Basically get the top of the hat big enough and then go round and round till the hat is about 5" - 5.5" tall.

TOP- down:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, and join to form a ring. Ch 3, then make 14 dc inside ring. Join with a slip stitch. Ch 3 and make a dc in the same stitch.
Rnd 2: *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc,  Repeat from * around.
Do the 3rd round the same as the 2nd. (about 32 dcs)
Rnds 4 - 10: Now dc in each dc around, joining at the end of each rnd with a sl st, and ch 3.

You can do a final loopy row of ch 4 skip a dc, sc into the next, ch 4, skip a dc, sc into the next etc.

You can also do rnd 10 using an alternating front post and back post dc.

Or sc around for an 11th row using an alternative color.

Little flower: Ch 8, join with a sl st in the first chain, ch 8, join again in that first chain, repeat to make 6 loops/petals. Thread the 2 ends (starting and ending yarn) into the hat, about 1 dc apart.  Tie them together 3 times inside the hat.
