CROCHETED HEADBAND/Earwarmer Gauge: 4sts - 1" 4 rows = 1" --- fits 20"-23" head Materials: Size H (5.5 mm) crochet hook, several yards of worsted weight yarn, yarn needle. Ch 15, Row 1: Sc in each chain across, ch 1, turn Row 2: Sc in back loops only of each sc across row. (14 sts) Rows 3 - 60: Repeat row 2. End off cutting a 10" yarn tail. (about 16" long and 3" wide) Add more sts and rows to change size Thread the yarn tail onto a yarn needle, fold headband in half width-wise, and whip stitch the seam shut. Flip right side out. THE BOW - brown or contrast color Ch 15 Row 1: Sc in each chain across, ch 1, turn Row 2: Sc in back loops only of each sc across row. (14 sts) Rows 3 - 8: Repeat row 2. End off. Wrap 1 yd of brown yarn tightly around the middle of the bow. Tie in back of bow and use those tails to attach bown to headband. You can also sew each end of the bow to the headband. Easy Flower Chain 4 and join to form a ring. Chain 12, join with a slip stitch into the ring (petal). Make 6 more petals. Join, and end off. Tie to headband. Butterfly Chain 5 and join for form ring Wing 1: ch 4, 2 triple crochet, ch 4, join with sl st in ring. Wing 2: ch 4, 2 triple crochet, ch 4, join with sl st in ring. Wing 3: ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, join with sl st in ring. Wing 4: ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, join with sl st in ring Cut 3" piece of dark yarn for antenae. Fold in half, and place around middle of butterfly. Slip 2 'tips' through the loop middle loop of antenae, (where you folded it), pull tightly, and tie ends in a square knot. Trim if needed. These embelishments can be used on the knitted headbands too. Cast on 15 sts Knit 100 rows (approx.15.5" long and 4" wide. Add more sts and rows to change size) It will stretch. End off cutting a 10" yarn tail.
