LaGonda’s Baby Bonnet Variation (Newborn to 4 months)

bonnetThis is my first attempt at designing. So pardon any mistakes. If you have trouble understanding the pattern please email me. Bev Qualheim (www.bevscountrycottage.com) gave me permission a while back to use her Easy Baby Bootie Pattern as a base to work off of. Thanks Bev.

Materials:
1 oz worsted weight or baby/sport weight yarn (yarn used
in photo was Bernat's Baby Coordinates)
Size G crochet hook
Yarn needle
Gauge:
4 st. = 1 inch
2 rows = 1 inch

Bonnet fits newborn to 4 months. (see photo below for how it looks on a newborn)

Chain 37 - this makes the top of the T like you see in the photo.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd chain from hook and in every chain across. Chain 3 turn. (counts as first dc throughout)
Rows 2-7: Dc in each stitch across. (Do total of 7 rows of dc).
At end of row 7 ch 1 and turn. Sl st in first 12 stitches.
Chain 3. Dc in next stitch and in each of the next 12 stitches leaving last 11 st.
Chain 3 turn. Dc in each stitch across. Do total of 6 rows.
Finish off.
Using yarn needle sew back seams as in any t-bonnet.

On right side join yarn at front corner of bonnet. Chain 1 and do 2 sc in same stitch. Go across front of bonnet and all the way around bonnet edge doing sc ( doing 3 sc in the stitch at the corner) Join with slip stitch.
Chain 3 and sc in first stitch *chain 3 and sc in next stitch. Continue from * across the front making a ruffle.
Beading row
When you reach the corner ch 4, skip a st and dc in the next st. *ch 1, skip 1, dc in next stitch. Continue from * along bottom edge of bonnet.
Chain 1, turn. Sc in each stitch and ch 1 space along bottom edge. Finish off. Weave in and trim ends.
Make a chain of 100 for a tie and weave through beading row. Or use 20 inch piece of ribbon.
