SIMPLE CROCHETED BLANKET SQUARES
 (7" square)
4 ply worsted weight yarn in various colors
(scraps work well).
 Size G crochet hook
Ch 31 (or whatever gives you 7")
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in every ch in the foundation. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Working under the 2 top loops of each st in previous row, sc across row. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until piece = 7" inches, then fasten off.
KNITTED 'SEED' SQUARE
4 ply worsted weight yarn and size 8 knitting needles. Cast on 33 sts.
 Row 1: Knit 1, purl 1, k1, p1 across row...ending with a knit stitch.
Row 2: Repeat row 1 until you have a 7" square.
(I really enjoy this pattern because of the fun textured effect.)
Blankets need to be approximately 40" x 60", but any size is welcome. Put together 7" squares in rows of 5 (35") x 8 (56") and then add a double crocheted edge around, which will add another 2" on all sides
BASIC 7" GRANNY SQUARE --make 40 squares per blanket. (5 squares across X 8 squares down)

SQUARE # 2  (7" square)
I am using 4 ply worsted yarn in bright colors, but any colors will do, you can even use up your scraps. This is so easy--perfect for beginners!

Size I hook and 4 ply yarn in any bright colors.
Ch 25
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in every ch across. (24 sts) Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: Dc in each sc of previos row. (24 sts), ch 1 and turn.

Repeat these 2 rows until square is the size you want.

You can add 'texture' by crocheting in the back loops only.

HELPFUL HINTS: Since everyone crochets a bit differently, feel free to change the # of sts and rows to = 7".  Be sure to crochet for 2 rows before deciding how wide it is.
