EDIT - to close cut yarn about 12" long and using a sewing needle weave

of 6 sts. Work 7 (7, 5) rows 2x2 rib. Row 1: *Sl1, k2,

psso* Row 4: *P1, yo, p4* Rpt Row 1-4 for 7 (8, 9)
times. BO and close top. Sew
seam.
Bev's EDIT - to close cut yarn about 12"

means! I have a hard time keeping track when I have to count.
It's close though. I used Bernat Softee Baby yarn (not
fingering) and I used the 60 st pattern. The hat turned out to be
big enough for a large preemie (5 lber or so).
