Rolled-Brim Preemie Hat - double pointed needles

Materials: 1 oz sport or baby yarn--any colors. Most hospitals like pastels or sports team colors.
Needles: size 3, 4 or 5 double pointed needles, depending on size of hat you want to make.  You can more sts to make a newborn sized hat.
(K=knit DP=double point, ST=stitch, BEG=begin, STS= stitches,  DEC=decrease, TOG together, REM=remain)

Begin: Cast on 48 (56 or any multiple of 8).  Knit evenly for 4 inches.

Shaping: K6, K2TOG.  Repeat to end of round.
               K5, K2TOG,  Repeat to end of round.
               K4, K2TOG   Repeat to end of round.

Repeat this DEC progression until 5 ST REM.  Knit these STS for 6 rows.  Cut yarn 4 inches long and pull through remaining sts.  Pull tail to inside and shape stem.  Secure tail with 3 sts.
