newborn hatNewborn loom-- 26 pegs are 3/4" apart.  2 strands soft yarn

* For baby hats I use 2 strands of sport yarn, 2 strands of Simply Soft yarn, or one strand soft 4 ply worsted and one strand baby yarn.  I only wrap the pegs twice.

Knit 14 rows.
Make a BRIM.  (see photo at right)brim

* To make a BRIM:
Lift the first row/beginning edge up onto the pegs, one stitch (consisting of 2 strands)  at a time.  (This will create your 2 rows you need on the loom). Don't wrap this row.
Knit off that row.
Now, continue to wrap rows clockwise after that and knit 12 more rows.
Remove and gather the top.

Alternate hat patterns -  You need less than an ounce of yarn to make a newborn hat. Use the newborn LOOM from this set to make the newborn hat.  Use 2 strands of yarn held together throughout to make hats. Plus, with the set below, you also get awesome pompom makers!  I love mine!

chunky braid

Chunky Braid Brim hat for newborns
Use 2 strands of yarn.  For this hat pictured, I used 1 strand of yellow Simply Soft yarn, and 1 strand of sock yarn.
Do chunky braid stitch for one row - wrap the pegs 4 times around.  Lift 3 wraps (actually 6 strands since you are using 2 strands for each wrap) over 1 wrap. This forms the Chunky Braid Stitch.
Single Knit for 14 more rows.
Remove with GATHERED TOP method.
