Measurements for mittens are 2 inches wide and 3 inches long.
Special stitches: Picot ( ch 3, sl st on top of last st.)
HDC = Half Double Crochet

Rnd 1) Ch 2. 5 sc in second ch from hook, join with sl. st.
Rnd 2) Ch 2, 2 HDC in each st., around, join
Rnd 3) Ch 2 ,1 HDC in first st, 2 HDC in next st. ( 1 HDC in next st. 2 HDC
in next st.) around, join
Rnd 4) Ch 2, sk first st, 1 HDC in each st, all around, join (17hdc)
Continue till length you desire about 3 inches.

Top of Mitten:

Ruffle for Girls:
Rnd 1) Ch 2 sc in first st. ch 2 sc in next st. around join.
Rnd 2) Ch 3 do picot,( sl st back into space0, skip 1 space do picot in
next space around (9 picots). join.

For Boys:
Rnd 1)  Ch 2 sc in first st. sl st in next st. ch 2 sl st. in next st, do
the same around. join
Rnd 2) HDC in front st. around join
Rnd 3) HDC in front st, around, join Fasten off .
Fold over for cuff.
