2 Crocheted Purses for Little Girls

Ww yarn;  H hook

HEART  -  Make 2
Row 1: Ch2, work 3sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch1, turn.  *(3sc)
Row 2: 2sc in first st, sc in next st, 2sc in next st, ch1, turn.  (5sc)
Row 3: 2sc in first st, sc in next 3st, 2sc in last st, ch1, turn.  (7sc)
Row 4: Sc in ea st across, ch1, turn.
Row 5: 2sc in first st, sc in next 5st, 2sc in last st, ch1, turn.  (9sc)
Row 6: 2sc in first st, sc in next 7st, 2sc in last st, ch1, turn.  (11sc)
Row 7: Sc in ea st across, ch1, turn.
Row 8: 2sc in first st, sc in next 9st, 2sc in last st, ch1, turn.  (13sc)
Row 9-14: Sc in ea st across, ch1, turn.
Row 15: Sc in first 6st, leave remaining sts unworked, ch1, turn.
Row 16: Sc dec over first 2st, sc in next 2st, sc dec over last 2 st, ch1, turn.  (4st)
Row 17: (Sc dec over next 2st) 2x.  (2sc)

join yarn in 2nd stitch of unworked stitches from row 15.
Sc in each stitch to end (6sc) ch 1 turn
Sc dec over first 2 stitches sc in next 2 sc, sc Dec over last 2 stitches.  ch 1 turn
sc dec over next 2 sc two times.  finish off and weave in ends.

EDGING AND STRAP
Place hearts wrong sides together, join yarn with sc in bottom point of heart, sc in next 16 row ends, *ch2, (yo, insert hk in 2nd ch from hk, draw up lp, yo and draw thru 2 lps on hk) 2x, yo and draw thru all 3 lps on hk - bobble made;  rpt from * for a total of 14 bobbles;  working down other side of heart, sc in next 16 row ends, slst to first sc.  Finish off.

A little girl you know will love this sweet purse to carry her treasures in!
2 oz sport weight yarn or baby yarn that sparkles (Red Heart)

Size F crochet hook, gauge: 4 rows = 1"
Ch 26 for front of purse
  • Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (25 sc)
  • Sc and dc in first st. *Sk 1 st, (sc, dc) in next st. Repeat from * across row for pattern. Ch 1 and turn.
  • Rows 3-20: Sk 1st st, (sc, dc) in next st. *Sk next st, (sc, dc in next st.) Rep from * across row and ch 1 and turn.
  • Row 21: Sc in each st. Ch 1, sc around entire piece and join with a sl st in first sc. Make a 2nd piece for the back of the purse to match front.

  • Either sew together or sl st together to form the bag, leaving the top open.
  • Sc around the open top of purse.

  • HANDLES - make 2
  • Join with sl st starting 4 sc in from side, and make a ch about 8" long.

  • Join with sl st to other side of front of purse. Make one on the back side of purse in the same manner.
