Knit 25" Baby Blanket
copyright Bev Qualheim 1998, 2017
(I love to make cotton dish cloths using this pattern, so I figured, why not knit baby blankets the same way, and it worked! )

preemie blanket to knitMaterials:
Size 6  needles (14" length) -- and soft Sport Yarn

Cast On 4 Sts.  Knit one row.
Row 2):  Knit 2, yarn over, knit to end of row.
Row 3-?):  Knit 2, yarn over, knit to end of row.
Continue these two rows of garter stitch  until one edge of the triangle measures 25"  (or desired size - 36" for isolette cover).
Now you are halfway and will decrease back to 4 sts as follows.
Row 1):  K1, K2 tog, yo, K2 tog, knit to end of row
Row 2):  K1, K2 tog, yo, K2 tog, knit to end of row
Continue these two rows until 4 stitches remain.  Bind off.

If you wish to make this into a warmer blanket or an isolette cover, you can 'blanket stitch' a piece of dark flannel to the back.  Hospitals request the darker fabric on the back so that the light is filtered even more for the babies.
