H Crochet Hook
WW yarn (about 2
oz) and small amount of contrast color yarn for nose and eyes
Yarn sewing needle
Measurements: 5" across at base. 3" to armpit. 3"
across top of head. Height = 7"
BODY: Ch 18
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch across, ch 1 and turn (17 sc)
Row 2: Sc in nearest sc to hook and
in each sc across, ch 1 and turn (17 sc)
Row 3: Repeat row 2 for 13 rows
TOTAL. At the end of row 13, ch 4 (for ARM) and turn
Row 14: Sc in nearest sc to hook in
in each sc across, ch 4 at end of row for other arm.
Row 15 - 17: Sc in nearest sc to
hook and in each sc across, ch 1 and turn. (23 sc)
Row 18: Sc in each sc across 18 sts
leaving 5 unworked. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 19: Sc in 12 sc leaving 5
unworked. Ch 1 and turn.
HEAD:
Row 20 - 24: Sc in 2nd sc from hook
and in each across including into the VERY last st at the end (It
almost doesn't look like a stitch). No ch 1 either, just turn (11
scs)
Rows 24 -27: Sc in 2nd sc from hook
and in each across BUT NOT into the VERY last st at the end. No ch 1
either, just turn. After Row 24 you should have 8 scs.
End off leaving
15" tail for sewing seam.
Make a 2nd puppet piece the same.
Sew the 2 pieces together around, leaving bottom open for hand.
Face:
To make
the nose, use a contrasting color and chain 4, join with a sl st to
form a circle. Make 9 dc into circle. Join with a sl st,
and end off, cutting a 6" yarn tail to sew the nose onto the face. Sew
onto face.
Using contrasting color for eyes and a yarn needle, sew a face with
eyes and a mouth, any way you wish. Add hair if you like.
Alternate ideas: Start with one color for the body, up to the
neck, then change to a skin color for head.
You could
crochet long ears and make a puppy or bunny.
EARS: Ch
6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each one across.
Do this for 6 rows. You can end off for dog, or do 6 more rows
for bunny.
