Bev's Hidden
Hat

This is a pretty hat, complete with a pretty sunflower. A hat that has
hidden warmth built right in.
(And yes, that's my dog lying
right next to the hat. She decided it was for her and didn't want to
move!)

Rnd 2: Ch 3 and make a dc in the same stitch. * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, Repeat from * around making sure to dc into the base of the ch 3. (23 sts including ch3) Join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc of previous rnd.
Rounds 3 and 4 are the same as the 2nd. (52 dcs including ch3)
Rnd
5: Ch 3
and make a dc in the same stitch, then dc in
each dc around including into base of ch3 of the previous row, joining
with a sl st in the top
of the 1st dc of the round you just finished.

Rnds
6, 8, 10, 12, 14: Ch 3 and make
front post dc in each dc around hat. Join as in previous rounds.
This forms ridges every other row, and makes the hat snuggly warm.
Rnds 7, 9, 11, 13: Repeat row 5.
Rnd 14-15: Ch 1 and sc in
each st around.
SUNFLOWER: Using black
yarn chain 4, form a ring by joining with a slip stitch. Ch 3, and make
11 dcs inside ring. Join with sl st to top of dc. Add in yellow
yarn for petals. *(Chain 3, sc into the 2nd chain from hook, hdc
into 3rd chain from hook. Join with sc in the next dc). Repeat
from * around black middle.
Attach flower either by
stitching it on, or by using the 'yarn ends' on the backside of the
flower, to tie it on to the hat. Just pull 2 of the yarn ends through
to the inside of the hat, and tie in a square knot. This way you can
make other accessories to attach to the front if you wish.
