Crafting Angels of Moapa Valley, Nevada
hosted by Ruth Doxey and Bev Qualheim
Lots of photos may take a while to load!

July 2005
We were unable to meet this month as Sister Doxey, our wonderful hostess hurt her back and was laying in bed, very uncomfortably!  So many of us prayed for her, and put her name on the Temple prayer rolls and she has recovered nicely now. God bless you Ruth.

June 2005 Meeting
We had quite a few members show up ready to work today and work we did! Here is Grandma Bingham with one of her famous afghans for kids. She is our dear lady with the whip-stitchin' fingers who stitches the most beautiful blankets from your granny squares!

MAY 2005 Meeting
We had a smaller meeting this month.  Still had a lot of fun though!  Members tied a couple of blankets, and we got hats started on looms.  Sister Chandler gave our message this month, one about love.  Excellent!

APRIL 2005 MEETING

April 2005 marks the first meeting where we are now part of the Logandale 4th Ward Enrichment night!  Sister Margaret LePray gave our inspirational message and it was so lovely and uplifting.  The main part of it was talking to us about PROVERBS 31, the Virtuous Woman.  In all ways this is what our group hopes all of us to achieve.

Proverbs 31:10-31
10  Who can find a virtuous woman?  for her price is far above rubies.
11  The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12  She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13  She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14  She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15  She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16  She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17  She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18  She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19  She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20  She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21  She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22  She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23  Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24  She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25  Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31  Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Now helping UMC in Las Vegas!
We also have now made the decision to make preemie items for UMC in Vegas.
University Medical Center (UMC) is the only public, not-for-profit hospital in Clark County. They are in need of preemie and newborn items like hats, booties, newborn shirts and gowns,  receiving blankets, burial gowns, and twin sized blankets for their adult Cancer patients. Patients get to keep the blankets, and it means so much to them to have a handmade blanket/afghan. All items can be mailed to CraftingAngels and we will hand deliver them to Suzanne at UMC.

We were the FEBRUARY 2005 PROJECT of the MONTH for ALL Crafts 4 Charity!  Thanks to all the ladies on that group for the gorgeous handmade items they have been sending! Here are some photos from our March 2005 meeting with many of the items made by AC4C!

Another bag dumped on the table for sorting and counting!  Thanks to Bev's Country Cottage website readers for continuing to send generous handmade donations!  So many of our Heavenly Father's children are getting warmed and loved.

Some of our Donations for October 2003

Using knitting looms from "In the Attic" - they make great hats!

The mittens and hat patterns for items made on this photo can be found here!

Donations of yarn, or material, are so welcome, as we are not funded by anyone. Neither Ruth nor I have the official calling/job, at our local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to do this project.  It's just something we do on our own as we both LOVE to charity-craft, so funding is not available to us. We have had people send Walmart gift cards, or JoAnn.com gift certificates, and that works out really well, as those are cheap to mail and we can then choose what is needed most at the time.  We guarantee ALL items donated will be used to make warm items for those in need.  If you want to donate handmade items that would be terrific! We need 12" and 6" squares especially, but all of the above are welcome!!) please send them to:
