(alias Bubble Gum Machine Ornament)

Just in case you're wondering about the odd name for this ornament, it comes from many years ago when my eldest son was about 2 years old. All he wanted for Christmas was a 'Bug-gun sheen' or a bubble gum machine. Thus the name of this easy to crochet ornament.

Crochet hook size G
Small amount of white 4 ply yarn and small amount of red.
Small amount of black DMC floss
Craft Glue
6 assorted color 1/4" pompoms to represent the gumballs.

With white, ch 3, sl st together to form a ring.
RND 1: 11 dc in the ring and join with sl st, ch 1.
RND 2: 2 sc in each st around and join with a sl st. Attach red for base.
RND 3: Sc in next 6 sts, ch 1 and turn.
RND 4: 2 sc in 1st stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 and turn.
RNDS 5-8: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. Fasten off at end of this rnd.
Now with red, sl st around the outside sts of the white cirls and with black DMC floss, stitch 10 cents (Using the cents sign) on the base. Using craft glue, paste the ponpoms on the white circle of the bubble gum machine. As a final touch, add an ornament hanger, or make your own using an open paper clip and attach to top of ornament.
